BC LNG Alliance Statement on BC Government framework for natural gas development

March 22, 2018

The BC LNG Alliance welcomes the B.C. Government’s new framework which will help remove several barriers to B.C. LNG projects being globally competitive. LNG projects in B.C. are working hard to provide the world with the cleanest LNG produced with the lowest overall emissions intensity. Leveling the playing field with other industries in the province will help our projects reach final investment decisions.

Removing these taxes while providing temporary PST relief during project construction is a step towards competing with LNG projects around the globe.

We look forward to continuing to work with government towards realizing the significant benefits an LNG industry in B.C. would bring to local and aboriginal communities, British Columbians and all Canadians while helping BC meet its climate targets as well as helping other countries meet their climate targets and reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. There is a second window opening for global LNG supply in the mid-2020s, the time for an LNG industry in B.C. is now.
